I remember the day you were born; the baby boy brought into this cold, dark world.  The way you slept so peacefully in your mother’s arms. I remember because I was there.I remember the first steps you took, the first toddling steps, the many falls but the determination to continue and try again. I remember because I was there. I remember the ball games, the friends, and the relationships.  I remember when you gave your heart to me.  The celebration that took place.  I remember because I was there.  I remember the hard times.  The times when you looked away from me to try to find what you thought you might be missing…but you always came back.  I remember the nights when you thought that no one could hear you or understood what you were going through.  I remember because I was there. I have been there to share your highest mountains and your lowest valleys.  I have celebrated with your smallest victory and your greatest accomplishments.  Everything you have done, I remember because I was there.  Everything you will do, please remember, I’ll be there.

Where can I go to escape your spirit? Where can I flee to escape your presence? If I were to ascend to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. If I were to fly away on the wings of the dawn, and settle down on the other side of the sea, even there your hand would guide me, your right hand would grab hold of me.
Psalm 139:7-10
“Remembering” in the OT is a powerful tool. When it is used, it means more than just simple recollection. It is intended to request a return to a previous state of affairs: it is a plea for action. God remembers you. God is willing and able to restore a relationship of blessed union and grace in your life and mine. It will probably not mean an end to the difficulties of this life, but what are they in light of the glories that are to be revealed in us?
Once I really realize God is there, and become convinced of it, my heart hungers to find God there.  Once my appetite is whet, I desire to find God in a much different way than I look for my car keys.  What I'm really desiring is intimacy with God.  I want to know I'm not alone in my life.  I want to be connected with God.
How is God there?  Or, "who am I connecting with?" God made this whole world and gave life to each and every one of us who lives in it.  God made us with purpose - that we be happy with God forever.  So, we are not looking for or connecting with a God who is distant or indifferent.  Our God is passionately engaged in drawing us to the fulness of life we were created for.  We are seeking to find a God who loves us and is always seeking intimacy with us.  It is simple.  A sense of absence vanishes when I am open to a sense of presence.

That God is omnipresent means that he exists everywhere. There is no "going from" or "fleeing" God, for his presence is everywhere. If we are one of God's own people, this should be a great comfort to us. Not even an insignificant sparrow dies apart from God, so we know that everything that happens to us takes place in God's presence, too.
He is always there beside us and in us and around us with His guiding hand--a right hand that can grab hold of us when we need it. Nothing happens to us outside of the presence of God himself, and so nothing happens outside the knowledge and the power of the God who is forever working good things. Every circumstance belongs to our good God, for each circumstance is only a time and place that God is in, and that exists within God. This is something we can trust in.
Of course, God's omnipresence also means that none of our sins are hidden from him. I can hide my sins from other people, but never from God, who is privy to everything about me because nothing exists separately from Him. Knowledge of this ought to spur us to righteousness, and also to confession. And when we come in confession of those sins, we can be assured that he is always there to hear us, for he is never far away from us. He does not dwell in temples only, so it is never necessary for us to go to any particular location for prayer or confession. He is always and everywhere with us, ready to hear us.
