| Before me stood a mighty lighthouse. In the setting sunshine the brilliance of its stature and the brightness of its white color impressed me. I thought, “How important this lighthouse must be”. I walked around her and as I approached the cliff on which she stood, I stopped in wonder. For there on the rocks below were the ruins of many a ship who had crashed there. I wondered how this could be? How could they have crashed with so brilliant a lighthouse to guide them? I stayed by the lighthouse that day as shadows gave way to night. I looked up in the darkness and saw nothing. Where was the light? This mighty lighthouse, so brilliant in the sunshine was just a shell, a cold black shell in the darkness. She had no light inside. I thought as I left her that night, “How many could have been saved from ruin if only her light had shone, if only they could have seen their way in the darkness”. tsf |

| You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16 |
| It is because Jesus is the Light of the world , that Christians are the light of the world. When we became Christians we not only received forgiveness of sins, we also received new light and life in Christ. We have come to know the Lord Jesus not only as the Way, but also as the Truth and the Life. |
| Lighthouse structures are placed on dangerous coasts and shoals located in exposed environments. Individuals who inhabited these locations were the Light keepers.
* Cleaning and painting lighthouse and other structures.Lighthouse keepers duties were a rigorous daily routine, not to mention the nightly watch to assure the light was burning and signal timing was accurate. * Light keepers were expected to man their station regardless of the climate or weather conditions. * Oil and matches are supplied by the Light-House Establishment; no other shall be used at light-stations. See any realtionship to Christians as Lightkeepers? |

| Christians are very much like lighthouses that stand along rocky coastlines braving the crashing waves. Each one is different and emits its own unique signal. Yet each shares a common purpose: to serve as a sentinel between danger and safety, between death and life, with a goal of guiding the lost from troubled waters to safe harbor with their saving light.
Perhaps you don't yet recognize that, by being a Christian, you are already a lighthouse, and God is igniting His flame in you. Your light can be a beacon to your neighbors. They may be drawn to you but not know why--until you share with them the Source of your own eternal light that brightens up the neighborhood. At work the beam of your Christ-inspired ethics can draw attention to the principles in His Word by which you live. Maybe your workplace becomes a gathering spot during lunch or after work--an alternative to the proverbial water cooler of gripes and gossip. Instead, you offer a secure place and an ear for questions from co-workers seeking the Truth they sense in you. Your playtime--hobbies, sports, activities with friends--can be opportunities to share Christ's love and saving grace. With a little ingenuity you can mix fun with fulfilling the Great Commission. |
